Our Doctors want to be Partners with You in Your Pet's Health
Dr. Loretta Carrico:
"I have lived with pets my entire life. As a child growing up in the mountains of Kentucky we were always collecting strays and rescuing wildlife. My father was patient enough to gentle the most timid of animals and my mother was the nurturer/rescuer of all pets and wildlife. They are responsible for the direction my life has taken and I owe them many thanks for teaching me the importance of animals in our lives. I will never doubt the power of the human-animal bond to comfort, heal, motivate and enrich our world."
Loretta Carrico, DVM, graduated cum laude from Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990 and has practiced in Hampton Roads since 1991. Before joining Animal Medical in 1999, she worked at a number of area hospitals on a 'relief' basis, while working nights and weekends at two local emergency hospitals for 8 years. She is happily married to a sailor, with two children, a sweet daughter-in-law, and a very active grandson. Her happy family also includes three dogs (Daytona & Pepper and the newest addition -- a golden retriever with hip dysplasia appropriately named Mischief), and a very special cat (Roo) who lives at the hospital.
Dr.Becky Oberlander, DVM
Dr. Becky Oberlander was born and raised in Mechanicsville, Virginia and is happy to fianlly be living back in the state! She graduated from the veterinary school at Virginia Tech in 2005 (Go Hokies!) where she received awards for her interest in feline medicine. Her love of sailing and the water drew her to Annapolis, Maryland where she practiced at a small animal clinic for 3 and 1/2 years. She met her husband while practicing in Maryland and his career in the Navy moved them to Pensicola, Florida. After a warm year of serving the dogs and cats in the Florida Panhandle, the Navy moved them to Virginia Beach in February 2010. She and her husband have 3 four-legged children: "T.J." the extremely handsome gray cat, "Smitty" the "special" orange tabby, and "Oyster" the small but fiesty black and white kitty. When she is not at Animal Medical she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, running, boating, and doing anything around the water. She looks forward to meeting you and your four-legged family members soon!
Dr. Lori Jones:
Born in rural South Carolina, just 10 miles inland from Myrtle Beach, Lori followed her love of horses & moved to Nebraska at the age of 22. There she worked cattle and rode horses, confirming that her heart's desire was working with animals. Her love of ranching, wide-open spaces and working on the land kept her there for over 13 years. Her passion for nature, the outdoors and a less complicated lifestyle continues although now she prefers working with smaller animals -- to leave plenty of time for traveling (especially to Montana and Scotland).
Lori Jacqueline Jones, DVM, graduated from Kansas State Veterinary College in 1992 and has practiced in Hampton Roads since 2000.
